Afroman Christmas album, a review 12 years too late.

Call me old fashion, call me a Christmas music purist I don’t care. These songs just don’t do it for me. I like my Christmas music to be classic with a hint of nostalgia, anything past Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas” I’m probably out on. Modern Christmas music just doesn’t have the same effect on me as the oldies do. With auto tune, and tons of effects it just takes me out of the holiday. After stumbling upon Afroman’s Christmas album I was hit with that hint of nostalgia and knew I had to listen to this for old times sake.

It took until halfway through “Police blow my wad” to make the call to chief and tell him this ain’t it. I wanted to like this album, I really did. Back in the mid-2000’s I knew every word to Afroman’s classics “Crazy Rap” and “Because I got high” (who am I kidding I still know all the words).

Afroman was ahead of his time, if this album came out in 2018 he’d be immortalized in the world of memes and this album would be #1 on the iTunes Charts.

I think most will find “Deck My Balls” funny and then realize from there it’s only downhill with rehashed dick and balls jokes. But I think if Amy Schumer has shown us anything it’s that one trick ponies can still make a career out of one tired troupe.
